HALAWA VIEW APARTMENTS

    Halawa View Apartments is a 121 unit affordable housing property located at 99-009 Kalaloa Street near the entrance to Pearl Harbor. This 14 story property was built in the early 1970’s under the HUD 236 Loan Program and currently has 24 project based Section 8 residents.  The remaining 97 residents pay the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) approved rents.

   The project site consists of one high rise and two mid-rise buildings and contains two, three and four bedroom units.  Unit interiors include bathrooms, kitchens, bedrooms and living areas.  Many of the residents of Halawa View Apartments have been there for many years.  

   Hawaii Community Development Board, in partnership with Pacific Development Group, purchased the property and later obtained Federal and State low-income housing tax credits from the Hawaii Housing Finance & Development Corporation (HHFDC). By securing said tax credits, it made the rehabilitation and long-term preservation of the rental units possible.
