HALE MOENA OHANA

The second phase of this development called Hale Moena Ohana includes 143 units of family housing targeted to households earning 30%-60% of AMI.  Hawaiian Community Development Board partnered with  Costal Rim Properties Inc. and Highridge Costa Development Company LLC to develop this portion of the Project. Construction has been completed and tenants have already moved in.

The 13-story building development includes 2,705 sf of ground floor retail, 2,500 sf dedicated to a Community Center, 16,500 sf allotted for a recreation deck, lobby offices, laundry room, and 159 parking stalls.

The initial phase, a 13-story called Hale Moena Kupuna, opened in 2020 with 154 rental apartments reserved for seniors with low incomes.

A third phase with single-story retail buildings is also part of the project.

The Honolulu City Council approved the project's 201H entitlement application in January of 2016.  On Sept. 14, 2017 HHFDC approved financing of $63,796,716:  Hula Mae tax exempt bond-backed construction and permanent Loans, 4% Low Income Housing tax credits, and Rental Housing Revolving Fund. This second Phase of a 3 phase concept in the City Center of Kapolei is close to public transit, shopping, recreation, and civic amenities. The project was praised by officials because it puts affordable rentals within walking distance of businesses and the bus line for access to Kapolei Rail Station.
